Message Wanted to take a second today and say thanks for all the responses. It has given me some food for thought. I wanted to say that I was not able to drive it back home. Bryan Settles was gracious enough to loan me his truck and trailer so I could tow it back to Fontana from Robbinsville. He then towed it to Charlotte where the good people of CIN stored it a couple of days. I then came down last Wednesday with a buddy and towed it back to Richmond. Maybe the person at the deck party was confused cause I was able to start it and drive it in a straight line to get in the trailer.
After bringing some tools home from the shop and removing a few things to get a better look at the damage I see that the intake pipes are pushed into the throttlebodies causing a big gouge in the front of one. Also looks like damage goes all the way back to the driver door. It is misaligned. I can see that my brake master cylinder brace is bent upwards and when I put the car on jack stands I had to click one side up 2 notches to get frame to sit on all 4. I'm a little worried about the state of the turbo inlets cause of the push back on all the piping. I hope all the silicone couplers had a little play to absorb the shock. I dont see any cracks from observing them with engine in car. So fingers crossed. Also see where one side of the T.B. cover has started to bubble from heat created from wear against the cam gears.
With all that said and the fact I basically would have to paint the whole car I believe I'm going to swap it all to a slicktop shell.
It will be dracozx V2 and will be a faster improved version of the previous.
I'm lucky to have another Z to drive for just such an instance. I believe I'd be hurting more if I didnt have a Z to drive while work was being done to the other.
Once again thanks for all the posts, and support! I'll try to posts some build updates once I get started on it.
Chris
